Belize City - The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and GEF SGP Team joined the United Nations (UN) family in Belize to mark UN Day.
Staff members from the various UN Agencies gathered at a Town Hall Meeting in Belize City on October 23 2019 to celebrate UN Day. Opening remarks were provided by Resident Coordinator Ms. Birgit Gerstenberg followed by presentations by each agency on the work they are doing in country.
The UN Day activities also included exhibitions by various UN agencies. Staff members then engaged a fun filled game of UN Jeopardy where they tested their knowledge of UN and Team “Dog” emerged victorious followed by Team "Cow" and in third place was Team "Lion".
24 October has been celebrated as United Nations Day since 1948.
